Lady Mustangs cruise by Miami Trace

It was another "business as usual" type of game for the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs on Tuesday night, as they defeated non-conference opponent Miami Trace of the South Central Ohio League by a 12-0 score.
The shutout win saw Miami Trace have no shots on goal.
For LC (the OSSCA Div. III 10th-ranked team in the state), head coach Dennis West mixed up various lineups all throughout the match. This was their first game since Aug. 29, which was a game that was delayed in the first half and will be made up on a later date.
As for their shutout 12-goal win on Tuesday at the Lynchburg-Clay Sports Complex, LC built a 7-0 lead at halftime and added five more goals in the second half.
"This was the first time we've played a game since Wednesday before the fair, and that was just a half game before it got delayed," LC head coach Dennis West said. "During the fair, we had a couple good practices, and we hit it hard (Monday) before the match.
"We asked them to work on their own during the fair, and for the most part, they did."
Of the 12 goals by LC, it was senior Shelby Stewart who reigned with the most goals of the evening, not only having a hat-trick, but totaling four goals in the win, with two in the first half and two more in the final 40 minutes.
Stewart, a senior, was first to score for LC with 38:23 on the clock with an unassisted goal. That was quickly followed with a goal from fellow senior Morgan Fittro with 35:17 left in the half, with an assist from junior Alexa Cochran.

The scoring continued for LC with sophomore Samantha Pierson making the score 5-0 with the assist by sophomore Hannah Binkley with 17:46 on the clock. From there, it was Hannah Binkley scoring a goal with the assist from Chisman as the clock read 15:09.
LC's final first-half goal game with 49 seconds left as Fittro scored by kicking the ball to the back of the net for a second time, with the assist from senior Sydney Cromer and a seven-goal advantage.
In the second half, junior Ali Little had an unassisted goal with 34:38 on the clock, and that was followed by two consecutive goals by Stewart.
Stewart's third goal for the hat-trick came at 21:03, and the fourth goal for her was at 18:40. Both goals were assisted by Cochran, who totaled three assists in the match.
LC's added an 11th goal with 15:54 in the match, as freshman Angela McLaughlin scored with the assist from junior Marissa Mitchell.
Mitchell then came back and scored a goal of her own, the final goal of the match, with 2:30 on the clock. It was assisted by senior Keanna Oaks.
LC now stands at 5-1-0 overall and will play again on Wednesday, Sept. 17 at home vs. Eastern Brown in the Southern Hills Athletic Conference match.
"With the next few days off without a match, we are going to work on our conditioning and heal up," West said. "This match was a good opportunity to get everyone some minutes."
