Lady Mustangs clinch share of SHAC Div. I crown

The Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs will share the Division I Southern Hills Athletic Conference championship with the Eastern Brown Lady Warriors for the 2014 softball season.
Both schools finished 8-5 in SHAC play this season, earning the top spot in Division I. The Division II champions are the Fairfield Lady Lions.
Eastern clinched a share of the title by defeating FHS on Wednesday, by a 2-1 score. LC won their share of the SHAC with a win over Ripley on Monday.
First-year LC head coach Spring Roberts spoke about the achievement of her team:

"The record for the girls for the past several years has not been good, so going into this coaching position, I knew I needed to take a different approach," she said. "The girls are young, with only two seniors and three juniors.
"We start four freshmen, so the inexperience at varsity level had to take a different approach. The girls have fought a hard battle against teams that we weren't suppose to win against, including a lot ON our SHAC schedule.
"So coming out on top is a huge accomplishment. The girls should be proud of themselves."
This season, LC defeated Fayetteville, Ripley, Eastern Brown, North Adams (twice), West Union, Manchester and Peebles to earn a share of the title.
