DODSONVILLE — Though the match was ended due to darkness with 12 minutes left on the clock, the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs stayed undefeated in the Southern Hills League with a 2-0 win over the Ripley Lady Blue Jays.

This was the second win by LC over the Lady 'Jays this season, as they won 3-0 at RHS, but on Wednesday, LC scored two first-half goals for the win as both teams were held scoreless in the 28-minute second half.

"Like I told Ripley following the game … I thought they out-hustled us, and us being out-hustled will not happen again."

The first goal by the Lady Mustangs was quick, as senior Taylor Scott sent the ball to the back of the net for the one-goal advantage with 38:31 left on the first-half clock.

LC took their 2-0 lead with a goal by sophomore Shelby Stewart with 6:36 remaining in the first half.

In the second half, as Ripley pressured near the LC goal, senior keeper Emma Setty made a diving stop around the 13:53 mark, keeping the shutout intact.

"Ripley plays hard, and on our field, teams usually struggle because it is larger than most fields … that didn't happen (Wednesday)."

The win by LC moves them to 7-1 overall and 4-0 in the SHL.

LC will play again on Friday as they travel to face West Union in SHL play.
