SEAMAN — It was a perfect 3-for-3 week for the Fairfield Lady Lions volleyball team as they capped off their undefeated week in Southern Hills League play with a five-set win, on the road, against the North Adams Lady Green Devils.

This week FHS defeated Fayetteville in five sets, Whiteoak in three sets and then on Thursday, the Lady Green Devils.

FHS lost the first two sets by scores of 25-19 and 25-20, but like they did all week, they rallied for the win with three set wins of 25-22, 25-19 and 17-15 in the fifth and deciding set.

The win moves FHS, the defending SHL Division II champion, to 5-2 in the SHL and 6-3 overall.

Lady Lion coach MaryBeth Hodson said her team played smart against NAHS.

"Makenna (Corzatt) and Brenna (Simmons) played great. They were quick and smart on the tip," she said. "Sydney (Corzatt) was quick to cover defensively and ran the offense with quick play.

"Sarah (Putnam) and Halie (Chain) both had great blocks and shut down their hitters … again, the girls played scrappy."

Coach Hodson also spoke about the coverage by the Lady Lions on the court at the home of the Lady Green Devils.

"Sirenity (Smith) and Cynnamon (Sova-Davy) both reacted quick on the coverage to keep the ball alive," she said. "This was a tough match but very well played by both teams."
