Lady Lions down SHL rival Peebles

PEEBLES - With three players scoring in double digits the Fairfield Lady Lions produced enough offense, along with enough defense to take home a Southern Hills League victory Monday night, as they defeated the Peebles Lady Indians 54-51 at Peebles High School.
The scoring of the Lady Lions was led by senior Gabby Boone, who produced 19 points with nine field goals and one converted free throw. Boone gained the double-double with a team-high 11 rebounds. Boone shot 9 of 14 from the floor.
Fellow senior Sadie Jones continued to gain momentum on the offensive side of the court as she netted 14 points with seven baskets. Jones shot 7 of 15 from the field, while grabbing five rebounds and compiling three assists.
Fairfield junior Chelsey Riddle netted 12 points, as she made two two-point buckets, and one free throw to go along with a 5 of 7 performance from the free-throw line. Riddle added eight boards, two assists, two blocks and one steal in the Lady Lions' league victory.
Lady Lions junior point guard Megan Sword earned six points, three steals, two assists, one block and one rebound.
Senior Lauren Bowman finished with one 3-pointer, six assists, five rebounds, one block and one steal. Bowman's 3-pointer opened up the game, allowing the Lady Lions to go on a 9-0 run.
Kortney Paris gained one rebound and one steal for the Lady Lions.
FHS grabbed a total of 31 rebounds and committed just five turnovers.
Emily Hoop led Peebles with 13 points, as she had been averaging 22 ppg.
The Lady Lions improve to 10-7 overall, 7-4 in the SHL. FHS will play again on Thursday as they travel to face the Fayetteville Lady Rockets in SHL action with the winner taking the SHL Div. II league title.
