MANCHESTER — On the banks of the Ohio River Friday evening, the Fairfield Lady Lions gained another Southern Hills League victory, defeating the Manchester Lady Greyhounds, 12-1, staying undefeated in league play.
FHS pounded out 15 hits in the 11-run win.
Shelby Smithson led the Lady Lions at the plate, finishing 4-for-4, scoring three runs and tallying one RBI.
Lauren Larrick went 3-for-4, collecting five RBIs and one run. Larrick also earned the win in the circle, allowing one run (unearned) on five hits and no walks. She finished with seven strikeouts.
Whitney Hanenkrat followed with a 3-for-4 day at the plate finishing with a double, triple, two runs and one RBI. Courtney Huff chipped in with a 2-for-4 day, scoring two runs with one RBI.
Sirenity Smith totaled one hit, one run and one RBI; while Halie Chain hit a double, scored one run and tallied one RBI. Cynnamon Sova-Davy also had a base hit, with one run and one RBI.
FHS (10-0, 12-5) wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, scoring two runs before the Lady Greyhounds even batted once.

With Huff running on the pitch, Smithson pushed a bunt past the charging third baseman, moving Huff all the way to third base, as Smithson advanced to second base on the throw to third. One out later, Larrick singled to left field, giving the Lady Lions the only runs they needed.
FHS completely put the game in their favor, scoring 10 runs in the top of the third inning.
Smithson singled, and Hanenkrat followed with a double to left-centerfield. Larrick singled to left field to drive in both runners, and Smith doubled down the left field line to drive in a run.
Chain followed with a double over the centerfielder’s head to drive in a run, and Huff singled to centerfield to drive in a run.
Still in the same inning, Smithson had an RBI single to centerfield (her second at-bat of the inning), and in her second trip to the plate in the inning, Hanenkrat tripled off the fence in centerfield to drive in a run. Larrick singled to left field to drive in the final run.
MHS scored an unearned run in the bottom of the fourth inning on an error, as Larrick and the Lady Lion defense slammed the door by retiring the last six of seven MHS batters to end the game.
The Fairfield Lady Lions travel to Minford Saturday, with game time slated for 11 a.m.
