Lady Indians track wins Unioto Invitational

CHILLICOTHE — Totaling 139 overall points, the Hillsboro Lady Indians placed first in the 2012 Unioto Invitational in Chillicothe on Saturday, defeating seven other teams in the event.
Also competing in the track meet were the Fairfield Lions, as they didn't compete in the girls events, but in the boys they placed ninth overall as a team with 25.50 points, and the HHS boys placed fourth with 83.50 points. The winner of the boys meet was host Unioto with 157.50 points.
As for HHS girls, some of their top finishers included: Leah Pence winning the 100m hurdles at 16.20 and Allison Goolsby in second at 16.80. In the 300m hurdles, Taylor Stanforth was first at 50.50, and Goolsby was third at 53.40. Pence also won the pole vault event with a height of 8-06.00.
The HHS 4x100m relay team of Pence, Stanforth, Brooke Smith and Hannah Kibler finished in first at 53.90; and the 4x200m relay team of Megan Overberg, Autumn Hacker, Smith and Kibler were first with a time of 1:52.70.
In the distance medley, the HHS team of Hauke, Lacee Emery, Bailey Patton and Opst was first with a time of 14:38.00.
As for the boys first-place finisher, that was Jarrod Hart of HHS in the 800m run with a time of 2:07.50.
For the remaining girls events, results included: Kibler in second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.70, as the first-place time was 12.50 by Karena Fulks of Jackson.
Kibler was also second in the 200m dash with a time of 26.80 with Fulks winning the event with a time of 26.50. In those two same events, Smith was seventh in the 100m run (13.70) and fourth in the 200m dash (28.30).
In the 400m run, HHS had Autumn Hacker place fourth with a time of 1:07.20 and Chaney Meyers in sixth (1:09.20).
The 800m run has Hannah Opst place second with a time of 2:36.80, and Brittany Ferrell (HHS) was fourth in the 1600m run at 6:02.20. Also in the 800m run, Alissa Hauke (HHS) was ninth (6:38.90). In the 3200m run, Hauke was seventh (13:40.12), and Bailey Patton was eighth (13:54.40).
In the 4x400m relay event, the HHS team of Overberg, Hacker, Ferrell and Opst was third with a time of 4:31.30; and in the 4x800m relay, the HHS team of Ferrell, Bailey Patton, Hauke and Opst was second at 11:11.90.
The girls high jump event saw Stanforth place third at 4-04.00, and in the long jump event, Brittany Brown was 10th with a jump of 12-06.00. In girls' shot put, Alyssa Sullivan was ninth (25-11.00), and Sidney Applegate was 11th at 25-03.50. In the discus throw, Madison Lambcke was 18th at 61-01.
[[In-content Ad]]In the remaining boys events, results for FHS and HHS included: Jordan O'Conner (HHS) in fourth place in the 100m dash (11.60), followed by Christian Wildey in fifth at 11.90. Brant Huff was 17th for the Lions at 13.50.
In the 200m dash, O'Conner was sixth at 24.00, followed by Wildey in ninth (25.30).
The 400m dash was won by Miami Trace's Cedric Pettiford at 52.20, as Hillsboro's Michael Theobold was fourth (54.50), Cody VanLangen (HHS) was 10th (1:00.00) and Fairfield's Aaron Lucas was 14th at 1:03.90.
Wyatt Gleadle (HHS) was fourth in the 800m run (2:12.40), and Dustin Willey (FHS) was seventh at 2:18.00.
In the 3200m run, Fairfield's Michael Mangus was second at 9:57.40, and Collin Rothwell (HHS) was seventh at 11:07.20. Nathan Boone finished ninth at 11:23.20.
In the 1600m run, Mangus was third (4:47.70), and Rothwell was fourth (5:02.60). De-Andre Steward (HHS) was seventh (5:09.80).
The 110m hurdles event saw David Abernathy place fourth at 17.20 and Matt Fogle (HHS) finished eighth at 17.80. Abernathy followed with a second-place finish in the 300m hurdles at 43.50.
HHS was third in the 4x100m relay at 46.30 with the team of Abernathy, Theobold, Wildey and O'Conner. HHS was also third in the 4x400m relay at a time of 3:50.30 with the team of Theobold, Abernathy, Rothwell and Hart.
Hillsboro was second in the 4x800m relay with Gleadle, Rothwell, Theobold and Hart finishing with a time of 8:57.80. The FHS team of Willey, John Cain, Brant Huff and Matthew Leach were seventh at 9:50.10.
In the distance medley, HHS was third at 12:31.10, with the team of Gleadle, VanLangen, Conner Ernst and Joe Beery.
Leach was third in the high jump for the Lions at 5-04.00 and Gabriel Tamborski was ninth at 5-00.00.
In the long jump event, O'Conner was sixth at 17-05.00, and Fogle was 10th at 15-07.00.
Stanley Burns was 15th for HHS in shot put (36-09.00), and Zach Brown (HHS) was 19th at 32-10.00. Dustin Fetters and Wesley Willey were in the event for FHS with distances of 29-09.50 and 27-06.50.
In the discus throw, Burns was 12th (101-04) and Fetters was 17th at 92-08. Brown was 18th at 86-07.
