HILLSBORO — The past two games for the Hillsboro Lady Indians have been up-and-down on the scoreboard, as they gained their fourth win of the season on Saturday, only to return to Alice Cassner Field on Monday, falling to the Washington Lady Blue Lions, 9-0 in South Central Ohio League play.
On Monday, Hillsboro (2-5, 3-12) tallied just three hits and no walks in their nine-run loss to the Lady Blue Lions. They struck out four times in the SCOL game.
"We don't have consistency right now," Hillsboro head coach Catie Moberly said. "We need to realize this is the second time through the league, and we can't assume the outcome will be the same as it was the first time around.
"We are in a situation of where we have to fight for everything we get. There are some girls who have their heart into it, but we need to find nine who feel that way."
Leading HHS at the plate was Kayla Deatley at 2-for-3. The other HHS hit was Taylor Moberly at 1-for-3.
Scoring for Washington was two runs in the first, followed by one run in the second and one in the third for a 4-0 lead. WCH added two runs in the fourth and one in the fifth. The Lady Blue Lions added two runs in the seventh.
The Lady Blue Lions finished with eight hits.

The Saturday game against New Richmond, HHS scored three runs in the top of the first with Amber Everhart, Ashley Baker (one RBI) and Moberly (3-for-3, three RBIs).
HHS added one run in the third with Deatley (one RBI) rounding the bases and two more in the third with Moberly and Whitney Earley adding runs. Earley also had an RBI.
The final two HHS runs were scored in the fourth by Ali Stratton (2-for-3, one walk) and Everhart (2-for-3) as she reached the bases with a double.
Haylee Wehrung tallied an RBI against New Richmond, as did Donahue, who also tallied a hit.
The Lady Indians will play again on Wednesday when they travel to face Clinton-Massie.
