Lady Indians slip against Miami Trace

HILLSBORO — The Hillsboro Lady Indians dropped their South Central Ohio League against Miami Trace on Wednesday by a score of 12-2 in six innings at Alice Cassner Field.
MT scored runs in four separate innings, including a five-run second and four-run sixth for the 10-run win.
"A lot of this comes down to the girls needing to have confidence in themselves," HHS head coach Katie Moberly said. "We need to stop letting one mistake get to us.
"We gave them extra outs with walks and errors, and we cost ourselves some outs as well."
As for the Lady Indians (1-7, 1-3 in the SCOL), they scored two runs in the third inning with Amber Everhart and Kirsten Juillerat scoring runs. Juillerat doubled with one out, and Everhart had a base hit in the inning, Also gaining hits in the third were Haylee Wehrung and Sydney Merrick.
For the game, HHS totaled nine hits, with Everhart, Sara Ray and Juillerat each gaining two hits. Everhart and Ray were each 2-for-3, and Juillerat was 2-for-2.
Also gaining hits for HHS were Wehrung, Merrick, Taylor Moberly and Ali Stratton.
The loss in the circle went to Juillerat, as she struck out four batters and gave up five hits.
"The girls are doing some things well, and we can give up a home run here or there, but we can't do that with runners on the bases, especially if we've walked them or let them get on with errors."
MT finished with five hits, including a home run by Mabra in the fourth inning.
The Lady Indians will play again on Saturday as they host Western Brown in a non-league doubleheader.
