McClain sophomore Kaylee Hurley has begun her 2015 State Track and Field Tournament from where she left off last year, placing in the Top 2 in an event, as she did on Friday when she became a state runner-up in the wheelchair shot put event.
The shot put is held outside of Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium, on the campus of The Ohio State University, and Hurley didn't disappoint in the first of four total events she'll compete in this weekend.
Hurley, who was also second last year in the wheelchair shot put event, had a best throw of 16-00.75, as she defeated five other competitors in a seven-competitor field.
Earlier this week, Hurley spoke to the Highland County Press about gaining strength this offseason. Friday proved that newly added strength has paid off.
