Jarron Cumberland may become a UC Bearcat

Wilmington Hurricane standout Jarron Cumberland has verbally committed to attend the University of Cincinnati and play for Coach Mick Cronin's Bearcats, according to numerous reports today.

Cumberland, who has had offers from Butler and Purdue, will be a senior this year at Wilmington High School. His father, Scott Cumberland, was a first team All-Ohio player for Coach Joe B. Stewart's undefeated Hillsboro Indians in 1989.

Jarron is listed as a four-star recruit by Rivals.com.

He is the No. 11 shooting guard and the 60th rated player in the 2016 class according to 247Sports’ Composite Rankings.

In the Ohio Valley Hoops Classic at Wilmington College last season, he led the Hurricane with 35 points and 11 rebounds and was named the MVP of the game.

As a junior, Jarron, a 6-5 shooting guard, was named Special Mention All-Ohio.
