Indians win SCOL boys track & field championship

LONDON — The South Central Ohio League boys track & field championship belongs to the Hillsboro Indians, as they scored 144 points to be crowned the champions of 2012.

The Indians tallied the 144 points in the two-day event at London High School as they outlasted second-place Washington with 116 points and third-place McClain with 113 points. Miami Trace was fourth at 106 points, and Clinton-Massie scored 89 points for fifth place. Rounding out the standings were London with 74 points and Madison-Plains with 8.

As for the HHS boys team, their wins included the 4x800-meter relay, the 1600m run, the 4x100m relay, the 800m run, the 3200m run and the long jump.

In the 4x800m relay, the Indians won with a time of 8:22.00, followed by London at 8:32.88 in second place. MT was third (8:58.90), and in fourth was Washington at 9:04.57. McClain was fifth at 9:09.99.

David Abernathy was second for HHS in the 110m hurdle finals with a time of 16.76, and Matt Fogle ran a 17.02 for fifth place. The winner of the event was Laike Wallace of Washington at 15.64. For MHS, Evan Mustard was sixth at 17.27, and Isaac Savage (MHS) finished seventh at 18.78.

In the 100m dash, Clinton-Massie's Kyle Clifton was first at 11.38, followed by McClain's Luis Rivas in second with a time of 11.48. Jordan O'Connor (HHS) was fourth at 11.64, and Christian Wildey (HHS) was eighth at 12.17.

The boys 4x200m relay was won by the Blue Lions at 1:37.04, and MHS followed in second place at 1:37.29. Fourth was Hillsboro with a time of 1:42.27.

Jarrod Hart of HHS won the 1600m run with a time of 4:32.58, while teammate Collin Rothwell was third at 4:48.83. McClain's Jeremiah Savage was fifth at 4:57.62, and Caleb Mootispaw (MHS) was 10th at 5:04.45.

HHS also won the 4x100m relay at 46.01, and MHS was fourth at 47.52.

Luis Rivas of McClain was the winner of the 400m dash, the event for which he went to the state tournament last year. At the SCOL on Thursday, Rivas won with a time of 52.75. Michael Theobold (HHS) was third at 54.88, and Reid Garrison (MHS) was fifth (57.43).

Laike Wallace (WCH) was first in the 300m hurdles with a time of 40.69, and David Abernathy was third for HHS with a time of 43.13. Also for HHS, Matt Fogle was sixth at 45.51, and for MHS, Isaac Savage was seventh at 46.72 and Evan Mustard was eighth at 48.20.

Jarrod Hart (HHS) won the 800m run with a time of 2:02.17. Wyatt Gleadle (HHS) was third at 2:10.57. McClain's Jimmy Free was fifth at 2:16.21, and Jeremiah Savage (MHS) was eighth at 2:25.77.

Kyle Clifton of CM won the 200m dash at 22.95, while Luis Rivas (MHS) was third at 23.33 and Jordan O'Connor was fourth at 23.92. Also for HHS, Christian Wildey was seventh at 24.75.

Collin Rothwell placed first in the 3200m run at 10:22.25. Caleb Mootispaw (MHS) was third at 10:36.20, and Nathan Boone was fifth at 11:13.23. Evan Onusko (MHS) was eighth at 12:29.01.

HHS was second in the 4x400m relay at 3:42.63, and MHS finished sixth at 3:57.58.

In the high jump, Coleston Walters (MHS) was second at 5-10.00, and Chris Parker (MHS) was 10th at 5-02.00. Hillsboro's Gabriel Tamborski was 11th at 5-00.00.

Jordan O'Connor was the winner of the long jump at 20-01.75, and Jordan Goble (MHS) was second at 19-08.75. Jimmy Morris (MHS) was third at 19-03.50. Matt Fogle (HHS) was seventh at 18-00.75.

In the discus throw, Preston Wagner (MHS) was sixth at 124-11, while teammate Chandler Wagner was 10th at 109-04. Stanley Burns (HHS) was 11th at 105-06, and Zach Brown (HHS) placed 12th at 93-07.

Preston Wagner (MHS) was second in the shot put at 48-06.00, and Ryan Faulconer (MHS) was fifth at 43-05.00. Stanley Burns (HHS) was 11th (35-10.00), and Zach Brown (HHS) was 13th at 34-04.50.

In the boys pole vault finals, the winner was Clinton-Massie's Zac Borton at 14-06.00, followed by Hillsboro's Thomas Wilkin at 11-06.00 in second place. HHS's Garrett Baldridge was fourth at 10-06.00, and McClain's Tommy Free was fifth at 10-00.00.
