Indians win on road at Clinton-Massie

CLARKSVILLE — The Hillsboro Indians kept with their season average of scoring, and again, it was enough to get the job done. HHS outscored the Clinton-Massie Falcons by three points in the fourth quarter, sending the Indians to a 59-57 South Central Ohio League victory, Tuesday at CMHS.
HHS (who averages 60 ppg) now has won two straight games, coming in a span of four days, as they defeated Greenville on Saturday. This being the third straight road game for HHS, they are 2-1 in that span, as the loss came at Miami Trace to open the road trip.
On Tuesday, HHS (5-1, 9-3) trailed the Falcons 16-14 after the first quarter, but a 21-point effort in the second frame put the Indians up 35-31 at halftime.
The Tribe was held to eight points in the third, allowing 13 points by the Falcons. Those points allowed the home team to take a 44-43 advantage with eight minutes remaining in the game.
HHS outscored CM 16-13 in the fourth, sealing the win.
Leading HHS in scoring was Chase Gilliland with 17 points.
[[In-content Ad]]He was followed by Christian Cundiff with 12 points and Tyrand Cumberland with 11. Also scoring for the Indians were Jarrod Hart with 10 points, Taron Captain with five and Tyia Cumberland with four points.
Leading all scorers was CM's Tyler Uetrecht with 24 points. Trent Smart followed with 14 points.
The win moves HHS to 5-1 in the SCOL and 9-3 overall. CM drops to 3-3 in the SCOL and 6-4 overall.
HHS will play again on Friday, Jan. 20 when they travel for their fourth straight road game, this time at McClain High School to face the Tigers. The Falcons play again on Saturday, Jan. 21 at East Clinton.
