Indians, Tigers compete in wrestling sectionals

CIRCLEVILLE — The McClain Tigers and Hillsboro Indians took part in the 2011 SE District Wrestling Tournament Saturday at Circleville.
Hillsboro had one first-place wrestler in Kaleb West. West defeated Ray Ety (Sheridan) via decision, 16-11 for the sectional championship in the 140-pound class.
As a team, HHS finished in seventh place with 134.0 points, and the Tigers were 13th with 44.0 points. The sectional team title went to Miami Trace with 183.5 points.
HHS also had three wrestlers gain third-place finishes in Brandon Carter, Mason Hunick and Kordell Ford.
Carter, 103-pounds, defeated Daniel Cummings via default for third-place.
Hunick, 135-pounds, won the third-place match via majority decision (18-1) with a win over Cody Vore (New Lexington).
Ford, at 152-pounds, won via decision (6-2) over OJ Barr of Jackson.
Hillsboro's Matt West finished in sixth place. Matt West lost his fifth-place match to Isaiah Collier (Fairfield Union) via default in the 112-pound match.
In the 119-pound fifth-place match, Hillsboro's Will Arpan won via majority decision (15-5) against Drew Stebelton (Sheridan).
The 130-pound fifth-place match saw Hillsboro's Steven Limbacker lose via decision (6-3) to Justin Cowell (Logan Elm).
In the 145-pound match, McClain's Steven Barber fell via decision (9-2) to Stewart Oehlers (Fairfield Union).
Eric Short (HHS) defeated Joe Unger (MHS) in the 160-pound fifth-place match via pin fall in 1:34.
In the 189-pound fifth-place match, McClain's Gary Ryan defeated R.J. Waugh (Sheridan) via pin fall in 1:36.
