Indians rally in 2nd half to tie Blue Lions

WASHINGTON C.H. — It wasn't a South Central Ohio League win, but compared to their past history at Gardner Park in Washington C.H., the Hillsboro Indians were more than happy to leave Fayette County with a 2-2 tie, Thursday.

The Blue Lions led HHS 2-0 after the first 40 minutes, but the Indians continued to stay in the game in the second half, and eventually it paid off for the team as Brandon Carter scored a goal off a cross kick by Trey Moberly with 8:00 left in the match, cutting the Blue Lions' lead to one goal.

That lead soon went all even as Jordan O'Connor tied the match, again, with a cross kick by Moberly for the assist, with 2:30 on the clock.

Though it wasn't a win, HHS head coach John Weber said he was happy just to leave Washington C.H. without a loss as the Indians haven't won at WCH for the past five years.

"We played poorly in the first half, but we came back in the second half," he said. "Everyone hustled, and that was the reason we were able to come back and tie. It was a better result than we've had in Washington C.H. in the previous four years."

The tie puts HHS at 1-0-1 overall this season, and they also have the same record in the SCOL as they defeated MT 5-2 on Tuesday in Hillsboro.
