Indians post solid 6-4 mark to end 1989 season

One 1989 non-league game remained on the schedules of all six members of the South Central Ohio League. Hillsboro kicker Rhett Snyder hit a 24-yard field goal with a little over two minutes remaining to give the Indians a 31-28 comeback win over (previously) once-beaten Western Brown.
Wheelersburg smashed Washington, 30-13. Waverly drubbed Circleville, 36-7, Cincinnati Country Day plastered McClain, 34-14; Lakota ran all over Wilmington, 63-8; and tough Ironton manhandled Miami Trace, 50-18.
The final 1989 SCOL standings were:

According to Dr. Dan Strain of McClain High School, the remaining five schools of the South Central Ohio League had pledged to keep their league memberships until at least 1994, as they continued to search for new members.
The All-SCOL Football Teams were announced at the annual Fall Sports Banquet.
The offensive team included wide receivers Jeff Creamer of Miami Trace and Rhett Snyder of Hillsboro, running backs Derrick Smith of Hillsboro and Shane Sword and Jason Jackson of Washington, quarterback Jason Leeds of Miami Trace, kicking specialists Richie Bunner of McClain and Monte Smith of Washington, tackles Bryan Anthony of Washington and Brian Eggleton of Miami Trace, guards Pat Spray of Hillsboro and Jason Waters of Miami Trace, center Tim Frye of Washington and tight end Scott Coe of Washington.[[In-content Ad]]Shane Sword was named honorary offensive captain.
The defensive unit included down linemen Brian Caldwell of Miami Trace, Pat Spray of Hillsboro and Tim Frye and Wes Smith, both of Washington, along with ends Bill Justice of Miami Trace and Miguel Lorente of Washington, linebackers Brett Horton of Hillsboro, Rob Minshall of Washington and Jason Waters of Miami Trace, cornerbacks Rhett Snyder of Hillsboro and Kevin McBee of Miami Trace and deep backs Ryan Lynch of Washington, Klay Maynard of Hillsboro and Jeff Creamer of Miami Trace. Creamer was the honorary captain of the defensive unit.
When the Southeast District All-Star teams were announced, Jeff Creamer, Jason Waters, Jason Leeds and Kevin McBee, all of Miami Trace, and Rhett Snyder, Pat Spray and Brett Horton, all of Hillsboro, were named first-team All-District, along with Brett Bergstrom and Randy Hester of McClain and Tim Frye and Shane Sword of Washington.
