Indians gain 1st shutout of season

In their first meeting at Gardner Park, the Hillsboro Indians and Washington Blue Lions tied at two goals … on Tuesday at Richards Memorial Field, the Indians didn't allow any goals against the Blue Lions as they gained their first shutout of the season with a 3-0 win.
The South Central Ohio League win moves the Indians to 4-0-2 in the league standings and 4-1-2 overall.
HHS led 2-0 at the half with Reese Leibreich scoring on a direct kick and Jordan O'Connor making it a 2-0 score with the assist from Leibreich.
In the second half, Jarrod Hart put the Indians ahead 3-0 with the assist credited to O'Connor.
"This was one of our best games of the year," HHS coach John Weber said. "We had approximately five shots hit off or over the cross bar. This was a 100-percent team effort.

"I'm proud of the fact this was our first shutout of the season."
At goal for HHS was Maverick Ward.
"Maverick played phenomenal for us," Weber said. "The 3-0 outcome doesn't show how well we played in this game. Again, I'm proud of the guys."
The Indians play again on Thursday as they travel to Clinton-Massie with first place in the SCOL on the line. Earlier this season, the Indians and Falcons tied 3-3 at Richards Memorial Field.
