Indians finish 8th in districts

The Hillsboro Indians played in the Division II Southeast District tournament at Pickaway Country Club in Circleville this past week.
Two teams advanced to the state tournament in Unioto with a score of 328, which won the first-place honors, and Chesapeake was second with a 330.
Fairfield Union and Gallia Academy were tied for third at 331, followed by Miami Trace, Washington and Sheridan at 340.

Hillsboro finished in 8th place with a score of 358. Portsmouth and Jackson came in ninth with scores of 361. The two individuals to qualify shot scores of 76 and 77.
For Hillsboro, scores included: Austin Bagshaw (79), Alex Vanzant (87), Jacob Deatley (92), Travis Wehrung (100) and Cole Reveal (112).
Bagshaw missed a playoff by two strokes, which HHS coach Dan Spidel described as an "amazing accomplishment for the sophomore."
"The team scored better than it did at the sectional," Spidel said. "Overall, it's a great learning experience for them."
Hillsboro finished up the season with a record of 7-11.
"Having finished fourth in the SCOL and having gained this tournament experience, I look for great things to come in the next few years," Spidel said.
