Indians earn SCOL victory over Blue Lions

HILLSBORO — Scoring double figures in all four quarters, the Hillsboro Indians defended their home court Friday night, for a 62-49 South Central Ohio League win against the Washington Blue Lions.

The win was the Indians' fourth straight.

HHS led 14-8 after the first frame, and following a 21-point second frame, the Tribe led 35-24 at halftime.

HHS won the third frame (14-11) for a lead of 49-35. Washington won the final quarter 14-13.

Dévonte Ames led all scorers with 17 points, including one 3-pointer, along with four two-point baskets and six free throw conversions.

Tyrand Cumberland and Jarrod Hart each followed with 12 points. Cumberland had two 3-pointers for the home team.

Also scoring for HHS were Táron Captain (5), Tyiá Cumberland (4), Christian Cundiff (3), Trevor Gleadle (3) and Chase Gilliland (6).

Also making 3-pointers for HHS were Cundiff, Cleadle and Gilliland as the Indians made a total of six 3-pointers.

HHS was 16-of-19 from the 3-point line.

Leading Washington was Laike Wallace with 13 points and Derek Shaw with 12 points.

The Indians improve to 4-2 overall, 2-0 in the SCOL.

HHS will play again on Tuesday, Dec. 20 when they travel to London High School to take on the 0-4 Red Raiders.[[In-content Ad]]
