WASHINGTON C.H. — The Hillsboro Indians wrestling team placed second in the 2012 Division II SE District Sectional Wrestling Championships this weekend in Washington C.H.
The sectional was won by the Washington Blue Lions by a score of 243 points, with the Indians scoring 193.5 points for second place. McClain was seventh with 72 points.
Hillsboro's Dillon Hunick won the 138-pound sectional.
Hunick's journey to the sectional title began with a technical fall over Drew Howard (Miami Trace), 17-0. He followed that with a semifinal decision win (10-3) against Caleb Huffman (Washington).
In the finals, Hunick defeated B.J. Garcia (Circleville) in a majority decision, 11-3.
The Indians had five second-place finishers in Brandon Carter (106), Ryan Kelly (113), Kaleb West (145), Craig Jackson (152) and Kordell Ford (160).
McClain's Jake Branham was also a second-place finisher at the 195-pound weight class.
Placing third for HHS were: D.J. Davis (126), Stephen Limbacher (132) and Connor Johnston (170).
Placing third for the Tigers was Gary Ryan (182).
Finishing in fourth for HHS was Drew Huffman (182) and Lee Browning (195). For MHS, placing fourth was Brandon Davis (220).
