Karen Hilt, a senior at Lynchburg-Clay High School, was named to the NSCAA High School Scholar All-American Team.

Hilt was one of only 35 girls soccer players from across the United States selected to this team.

“This is a very great accomplishment,” Lynchburg-Clay soccer coach Dennis West said. “She’s been a pleasure to coach and accomplished many great things in her career at Lynchburg-Clay.”

To become a Scholar All-America at the interscholastic level, a player must first be nominated by his or her head coach. The coach must be an NSCAA member at the high school level.

To be nominated, a player must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.75 or better (on a 4.0 scale), must have demonstrated excellence in soccer at the high school level and must have performed service in his or her community.

Hilt's accomplishments include: NSCAA High School Girls All-Region 4 Team, All-Ohio 1st Team (Division III), Southeast District Division III Player of the Year, All-SE District 1st Team and Southern Hills All-League Team.

Hilt, a four-year starter at LC, plans to attend Morehead State University in the fall on an academic and athletic scholarship. She will be playing soccer for the Eagles. Currently, Hilt is a member of the LC girls varsity basketball team.
