Hillsboro 3rd, McClain 5th in girls SCOL track & field championships

LONDON — The two schools from Highland County placed in the top five in the 2012 South Central Ohio League girls track & field championships as the Hillsboro Lady Indians were third with 129 points and the McClain Lady Tigers tallied 59 points for fifth place.

First-place events for the Lady Indians included 100-meter hurdles, 100m dash, 400m dash, 200m dash, 4x400m relay and pole vault.

Leah Pence won the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.88, along with winning the pole vault at 9-00.00.

Hannah Kibler dominated the 100m dash at 12.73, along with a win in the 200m dash at 26.46.

Megan Overberg (HHS) was first in the 400m dash at 1:01.57. The HHS 4x400m relay team won with a time of 4:14.94.

For MHS, they were winners of the 300m hurdles with Taylor Faulconer with a time of 48.66.

Winning the girls meet was Washington with 163 points. LHS was second with 140 points. HHS was third at 129 points, Clinton-Massie was fourth at 87 and MHS was fifth with 59 points. Miami Trace was sixth with 56 points, and Madison-Plains was seventh at 21 points.

Other finishes in the girls meet included the 4x800m relay with HHS finishing second at 10:30.73 and MHS placing sixth at 13:05.33.

Allison Goolsby (HHS) was third at 16.96 in the 100m hurdles, and McKenzie Figgins (MHS) was sixth at 17.38.

HHS was second in the 4x200m relay at 1:52.23, and MHS was fourth at 1:56.74.

In the 1600m run, Brittany Ferrell (HHS) was third at 5:36.69, followed in fourth place by Alissa Hauke (HHS), 6:03.92. Makenzie Olaker (MHS) was 10th at 7:04.01, and Sarah Davis (MHS) was 11th at 7:18.41.

Hillsboro finished in fourth in the 4x100m relay at 54.50, and MHS was fifth at 58.26.

Autumn Hacker (HHS) was fifth in the 400m dash at 1:06.30, and Taylor Stanforth (HHS) was second in the 300m hurdles at 50.66.

Brittany Ferrell was third in the 800m run at 2:32.81.

McClain's Felicity Peabody was third in the 200m dash at 27.11, and Brooke Smith (HHS) was eighth at 28.31.

Alissa Hauke (HHS) was third in the 3200m run with a time of 13:25.44,and Bailey Patton (HHS) 14:20.77.

MHS was seventh in the 4x400 relay at 4:53.58.

Abby Storts (MHS) was fifth in the high jump at 4-08.00, with Taylor Stanforth (HHS) in sixth at 4-06.00. Leah Pence was ninth at 4-06.00.

In the long jump, Sammy Rooks (MHS) was eighth at 14-04.75, followed in ninth by Megan Mustard (MHS) at 14-03.00 and 10th by Brittney Brown (HHS) at 13-10.50. Taylor Stanforth (HHS) was 12th at 13-06.50.

In the discus throw, Tara Karnes was second at 104-01.50, followed by Kristina Stanfield (HHS) in 11th at 69-10.75, and in 12th was Madison Lambcke (HHS) with a throw of 64-06. In 13th was Elizabeth Prayner (MHS) at 58-05.

McClain's Tara Karnes placed second in the shot put with a throw of 33-09.50. Also for Highland County, Sidney Applegate (HHS) placed eighth out of 13 with a throw of 26-07.00, and Alyssa Sullivan (HHS) was ninth at 25-05.50.

Kacie Monroe (MHS) was fourth in the pole vault at 7-06.00.
