Greenfield Attack wrestlers earn state honors

The Greenfield Attack Wrestling Club had both of its female members compete in the Girls State Wrestling Tournament on Saturday, March 10 at Chippewa High School.
 
Courtney Walker, a sixth-grader at Greenfield Middle School, garnered all-state honors as she finished in third place.
 
In round one, she won by pin in 21 seconds, followed by a 57-second pin in round two and another victory by pin in round three at the one minute and four seconds mark.
 
In round four, she defeated the eventual state champion by a convincing 9-2 score.  She suffered her only defeat in round five by getting pinned by the state runner-up in 48 seconds.
 
All of the top three finishers would finish with 4-1 records on the day, causing a three-way tie-breaker to determine the top three spots. Courtney finished in third place according to the tiebreaker criteria.
 
Kylee Stroud, a 10th grader at McClain High School, also become an all-state wrestler, as she finished in third place. In round one, she was pinned in one minute and 16 seconds. She followed that up with a default victory in round two. In round three, she suffered another pin, this time at the three minutes and 27 seconds mark.  She finished at 1-2 on the day.

On Sunday, March 11, the Greenfield Attack Wrestling Club had four members compete in the Chillicothe Youth Tournament, as all four of the wrestlers placed in the tourney.
 
GAWC had two champions on the day in Quinton Smith and Keegan Rawlins. Justin Kegley finished as runner-up, and Vincent Snyder finished in third place.[[In-content Ad]]
