Forsha on Football Post 3: Thursday, July 3, 2014: 7-on-7s
Lead Summary

It was good to see somewhat actual football on Wednesday evening at Paint Valley High School, as they hosted their annual 7-on-7 event at George Knisley Field with Huntington and Sciotoville also among the teams taking part.
I know it is just passing drills amped up just a little against an opposing defense in just helmets and gym shorts, but football is football, and though there was no contact, it was still nice to see the beginning stages of a season start to set up a little bit.
I've always been a fan of watching a football 7-on-7, scrimmage or even practice over some games because you get the chance to see how the football product is built and see how different coaches and programs go about preparing their teams.
With 7-on-7s, some are intense, some are laid-back, and it seems the closer the teams get to the season, the more intense each step becomes, whether it be 7-on-7s, two-a-days or scrimmages.
[[In-content Ad]]Watching that process from the start of July to the end of the season is just an interesting experience to see, and sometimes more interesting to watch than the actual season, but I'm the type of person who likes to know how things are built and seeing that process rather than the final product.
From about the hour I watched of the 7-on-7 on Wednesday, I'm already very interested in seeing how the Bearcats of Paint Valley improve on what was a playoff season from a year ago with a good number of their players returning.
Last season, Paint Valley finished 8-3 and were the No. 5 ranked team in Region 26 in Division VII. What I'm interested in seeing is if they can (or how much) they will improve on those numbers from last season.
As for other 7-on-7s, please let me know your schedules, and I might be able to come and watch, as this time of the year I'm looking for some different football programs to see during the summer. McClain has a home 7-on-7 on July 31, but that is all I know of at the moment.
Please send those 7-on-7 dates and times on the comments section or to sforsha@gmail.com.
As for some other football information, the McClain Flag Football Camp will be held on July 28-31 from 6-7:30 p.m. at the McClain Practice Field.
The blog will have a day off for Independence Day (July 4) but will return on Saturday for more high school football thoughts and discussion.
