Former South Central Ohio League player Travis Shaw continued to move up the Minor League Baseball ladder, being promoted to Triple-A.
Shaw, who played his high school baseball for the Washington Blue Lions, was called up to the Pawtucket Red Sox this week, as he'd been playing in Double-A baseball for the Portland Sea Dogs.
In an article by the Providence Journal, they quoted Shaw about his promotion to Triple-A:
"I’ve been on a mission just to show that I can hit at Double-A. There have always been those questions, for about a year and a half, that I couldn’t hit at that level consistently… I feel I’m in a good place mentally, physically, so I’m ready to go.”

The younger Shaw, who is a first baseman, batted .305 this season with the Sea Dogs in 47 games, hitting eight doubles, one triple and 11 home runs. He had an on-base percentage of .406 and also had five stolen bases.
In his two games with the Triple-A Red Sox, Shaw has two hits in seven at-bats with a .286 batting average and one run. He has a hit in each of his two games with Pawtucket.
Shaw played college baseball at Kent State University and was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the ninth round (Pick No. 292) in 2011.
