Ford wins consolation semifinal; will wrestle for 3rd place

Hillsboro High School sophomore Kordell Ford was victorious in his Division II consolation semifinal match Saturday morning in the third day of the 75th annual OHSAA State Wrestling Championships.

Ford (44-4 overall, 4-1 in tournament) won by a 6-2 score over Millersburg West Holmes senior Marshall Overholt and will wrestle later today in the third-place match against Minerva senior Scott Boyce.

Ford led 2-0 after first period with a takedown with 30 seconds left in period.


[[In-content Ad]]Overholt made it a 2-1 score with 1:35 left in the second period, but following a technical foul, Ford led 3-1 with 48 seconds left.

In the third period, Ford made it 4-1 with a takedown and 6-1 with a two-point move with 1:15 left in the match.

Overholt made the score 6-2 with 22 seconds remaining.
