FMS cross-country wins at Southeastern

The Fairfield Middle School boys dominated the field Saturday at Southeastern High School in Chillicothe, winning with a low score of 31 to runner-up Unioto, who had 89 points. The boys also defeated teams from Zane Trace, Warren, Waverly, Jackson, Westfall, Washington CH, Piketon, Portsmouth Clay, Chillicothe, Paint Valley, Alexander, Nelsonville York, Logan and host Southeastern.  

The middle school boys were led by Wyatt Evans with a time of 12:00 on a very challenging course.

Following Evans was Klay Walker, finishing second with a time of 12:23. Trent Tate was third at 12:36. Also for Fairfield Middle School were: Matthew Mangus, 8th,13:08; Kayden Lamb, 17th, 13:57; Noah Richmond, 22nd, 14:07; and Dustin Huff, 26th with a time of 14:15.[[In-content Ad]]

The Fairfield Middle School girls placed fourth with a score of 136 behind first-place Westfall with 71 points, Logan with 76 points and Piketon with 114.  

The Lady Lions defeated Warren, Waverly, Zane Trace, Paint Valley, Southeastern, McClain and Alexander. Leading the way was Grace Shope (7th grade) behind two female Logan runners who are Division I eighth-grade runners, with a time of 14:11 for third place.  

Following Shope were Codi Haynes (15th, 15:12); Lauren Greene (48th, 16:30), Andrea Spears (62nd, 17:57), Riley McKinley (70th, 18:44), Haliegh Bates (86th, 20:03) and Ali Powers (100th, 22:36).  

The teams compete Saturday, Sept. 22 at George Rogers Clark State Park in Springfield, Ohio.
