COLUMBUS – The Walter Camp Football Foundation has announced the names of 50 “players to watch” for its 2015 Player of the Year award, the nation’s fourth-oldest individual college football accolade. Among the list are five Buckeyes – J.T. Barrett, Joey Bosa, Ezekiel Elliott, Cardale Jones and Braxton Miller – the most of any school.

Barrett was named the Big Ten quarterback and freshman of the year in 2014 after going 11-1 as a starter while setting 19 school and Big Ten records. Before a season-ending injury vs. Michigan, Barrett set a school-record with 3,772 total yards, including 2,834 passing yards and 938 rushing yards. He set a Big Ten record with 45 total touchdowns and finished fifth in the Heisman Trophy voting.

Bosa, a member of the 2014 Walter Camp All-America team, was the Big Ten Conference’s defensive player of the year and its defensive lineman of the year. He led the Big Ten in tackles-for-loss (21.0), quarterback sacks (13.5) and ranked 14th nationally in TFLs and 10th in sacks.

Elliott rushed for 1,878-yards last season – the second-highest single-season total in school history – and scored 18 touchdowns. Elliott burst onto the national scene during Ohio State’s three-game post-season run and earned offensive MVP honors in both the Sugar Bowl and national championship. During Ohio State’s post-season run, he rushed for 696 yards and eight touchdowns in the three games.

Jones, in his first three career starts last season, led the Buckeyes to a Big Ten championship win over No. 13 Wisconsin, a Sugar Bowl win over No. 1-ranked Alabama in the College Football Playoff semifinals and a CFB Playoff national championship game win over No. 2 Oregon. In those three games, Jones threw for 742 yards and five touchdowns and rushed for 90 yards and a score while becoming the first Ohio State quarterback to win three post-season games.

Miller red-shirted the 2014 season after re-injuring his throwing shoulder in August 2014. A two-time winner of the Big Ten offensive and quarterback of the year awards, Miller already has won more Big Ten Conference awards (7) than any player in Big Ten history, including two Chicago Tribune Big Ten MVP awards. For his career, Miller has passed for 5,292 yards with 52 touchdowns while rushing for 3,054 yards and 32 scores.

The watch list will be narrowed to 10 semi-finalists in mid-November. The 2015 Walter Camp Player of the Year recipient, which is voted on by the 128 NCAA Bowl Subdivision head coaches and sports information directors, will be announced live on ESPN SportsCenter on Thursday, December 10. The winner will then receive his trophy at the Foundation’s annual national awards banquet on January 16, 2016 at the Yale University Commons in New Haven.
