GREENFIELD — A first half where the McClain Tigers were held to seven points was just a little too much for the home team to overcome as the Tigers fell to the Miami Trace Panthers, 49-43, Friday night.
The South Central Ohio League game was low-scoring in the first quarter as MT led 7-2. In the second, the Panthers broke out for 14 points, while the Tigers were held to five points, as the Tigers trailed 21-7 at the half.
In the first quarter, the Tigers (1-7, 5-10) didn't have a field goal, as their two points came from free throws by Ryan Faulconer with 6:57 left in the quarter.
The third frame was led by MT (5-3, 10-4) at 13-12, and the Tigers won the fourth quarter, 25-15.

The Panthers had three players in double figures as Blake Baldwin led all scorers with 16 points, including two 3-pointers. Cedric Pettiford followed with 15 points, and Marcel Pettiford finished with 11 points.
Also scoring for MT were Austin Schoellkopf with five points and Trevor Smith with two.
The Tigers were led by Brent Shannon with 13 points, as he sank three 3-pointers. Thomas Schrader added nine points, including a 3-pointer, while Faulconer followed with eight points.
Also for MHS, Philip Thompson scored five points, John Turner added four points and both Tyler McGuire and Wyatt Jones each scored two points.
From the free-throw line, MHS was 9-of-12 for 75 percent, while MT was 15-of-25 for 60 percent.
Other totals included MT with 15 fouls and 16 turnovers, while MHS had 20 fouls and 15 turnovers.
The Tigers will play again on Tuesday as they travel to Hillsboro (1-6, 5-7) for an SCOL game. HHS lost to Clinton-Massie, 49-36 Friday night.
