Piketon's Zach Farmer took the mound for the Division III Sectional final game against Lynchburg-Clay, and there was no looking back, as the senior no-hit the visiting Mustangs out of the postseason by a 3-0 score Saturday at PHS.
The No. 8 seeded Mustangs did force two walks, but that was about all they managed as the Division I recruit, Farmer, struck out 13 batters on the day, walking just two, while allowing zero runs on 85 pitches in the winning effort.
PHS, a No. 1 seed, scored their runs with one in the first and two in the fifth, improving to 21-5 overall. The loss drops LC to 8-11.
The Redstreaks, of the Scioto Valley Conference, collected eight hits and walked three times. They were led at the plate by Michael Lewis and Brice Bennett with two hits each. Scoring their runs were Lewis, and Isaac Dixon, who had two runs. Dixon had one hit and one walk.
