CLARKSVILLE — With monsoon-type rain falling from the skies, the McClain Tigers struggled on both offense and defense, and the host Clinton-Massie Falcons splished and splashed all around the football field to top the Tigers, 62-0, Friday night in both teams' South Central Ohio League opener.

The Tigers (0-1, 3-1) just couldn't take advantage of a couple rare Falcon mistakes, and with a very aggressive CM defense who blitzed all night, the Tigers were unable to get onto the scoreboard.

The win by the Falcons was their 33rd straight SCOL victory.

Clinton-Massie (1-0, 4-0), on the other hand, used their rushing game to their advantage, as the Division IV Associated Press No. 1-ranked Falcons scored a total of nine touchdowns, leading 27-0 at halftime.

The player of the game was CM senior running back Bayle Wolf, who rushed for well over 200 yards and four touchdowns.

CM's first score came with 9:19 left in the first quarter, taking the ball 2 yards to the end zone to cap off a 55-yard drive.

The score went to 14-0 following another 2-yard TD run by Wolf with 9:44 left in the first half.

The scoring was far from over in the first half as Kelson Gauden scored on a 52-yard run, as the running back maneuvered and broke tackles to run down the MHS sideline to the end zone for the 21-0 score following the converted PAT with 5:42 left in the second quarter.

Following recovering a MHS fumble, Chayse Wolf raced to pay dirt with 1:17 left in the opening half on an 85-yard rush.

The start of the second half didn't go McClain's way either, as Wolf took the ball 15 yards to the end zone for a 34-0 Massie advantage.

Bayle Wolf's third score came in the third, rushing the ball 71 yards for the touchdown, and his final TD made it a 48-0 lead on a rush of 11 yards early in the fourth quarter.

The final two TDs for the Falcons came via runs by Gauden and Dylan Collins for the 62-point lead.

As for the Tigers, there were some bright spots on the soggy night, one being senior Nate Cornett recovering a fumble with 6:14 left in the first quarter.

McClain's best drive came in the third quarter with Alex Hollar catching a 38-yard reception from Thomas Schrader. On that drive, the Tigers got as close as the CM 10-yard line, but following penalties and incomplete passes slipping around due to the rain, the Tigers were forced to a turnover on downs.

In the fourth, Schrader and Dillon Hunick has consecutive 11-yard rushes, but the Falcons' defense was close to unstoppable as they put eight players on the ball and rushed the Tigers on nearly every play.

McClain will host the East Clinton Astros (0-1, 1-3), who lost to the Washington Blue Lions, Friday.

The Falcons play their final non-league game of the regular season as they will travel to face DeSales in Columbus.
