By
-
The 10th annual Fairfield Alumni Basketball Tourney will be held on Saturday, April 9 at the Fairfield Local School building.

The doors will open at 9 a.m., and the games will start at 10 a.m. Teams will consist of Fairfield alumni and will be grouped according to the year players graduated. Registration forms are located at the Fifth Third Bank branch in Leesburg (the bank can be contacted at (937)780-2261). The cost will be $25 per player, and each player is guaranteed two games. This year, the registration fee gets each player a meal ticket for the Athletic Dinner to be held that evening. The deadline to sign up is April 1.

The annual Athletic Fundraiser Dinner and Auction will be held that same evening from 5:30-7 p.m. The meal will be pork chops, baked potatoes, salad, green beans, rolls, and various homemade desserts. The cost for the dinner is $10 for adults, $5 for students. Children 3 and under are free.

As in the past, there will be split the pot and raffle items, along with silent/live auction items for players and spectators to have a chance to bid on. The live auction will take place at 7 p.m. that evening following the dinner.

Some prizes collected so far include Mary Poppins tickets, Cincinnati Reds tickets, Heath Miller autographed football, four tires from Magulac Tires, Ohio State Football tickets, All Seasons Catering dinner for two and Columbus Blue Jacket tickets.

All proceeds go to the student athletes at Fairfield Local Schools. Two $250 scholarships will be awarded to one female and one male graduating from Fairfield this year. The balance of the proceeds will go to the Athletic Boosters and Athletic Department.

If you would like to help out with a donation this year or sign up for the tourney, please contact Wayne Bowman at 403-2033 or Matt Hodson at 402-0487.[[In-content Ad]]
