The Fairfield Lions eighth grade boys basketball team finished the season with a 10-3 record, claiming the Southern Hills Athletic Conference Division II title.
The Lions, coached by Gary Evans, lost during the season to Fayetteville, Ripley and Peebles but posted 10 wins against teams including North Adams, Lynchburg-Clay, Manchester, West Union, Whiteoak, Ripley, Fayetteville and Eastern, edging out the Ripley Blue Jays' record by one game for the title.
When asked about his year with this team, Coach Evans stated, "I have enjoyed coaching the eighth grade boys this year. They are loaded with talent and are a great group of kids. I've tried to prepare them for the high school level and feel they have improved and will do well in high school.
