The postseason for 2014 seems like the regular season for the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs, as they've already defeated one conference opponent and are now set to face another one in the Division III SE District Semifinals on Tuesday.

LC earned a home match with their 7-0 sectional final win on Saturday over visiting Peebles, and the reward was the Lady Mustangs now face another familiar foe in North Adams.

The No. 4 seeded Lady Green Devils will look for the upset at 5 p.m. on Tuesday at LCHS, but the task will be tough, as LC has yet to lose or tie against a Southern Hills Athletic Conference foe in the regular season or postseason for the past two years.

"This will be a good match," LC head coach Dennis West said on Saturday following the sectional final victory. "They have a good program, and it is getting better, but we feel pretty good about the way we are playing, especially since it is here on on our home field.

"We tend to play really well here and are looking forward to a good evening."

[[In-content Ad]]This season and last season, LC (the No. 1 seed in the district) was 7-0 in conference play, winning against the Lady Green Devils by a 4-1 score on Oct. 8 at North Adams High School. That win also clinched the second consecutive perfect SHAC season for LC in what was the regular-season finale.

With all of their success, the Lady Mustangs have built an overall record of 15-1-1, with that one loss coming against Western Brown by a 1-0 score in the season opener on Aug.16. The tie was against Zane Trace at 1-1 on Sept. 20.

Looking at the postseason of North Adams, they reached this game by winning their sectional final game against Fairfield by a 4-3 score in overtime. Also this postseason, NA defeated Chesapeake, 5-0.

Back to the reigning district champion Lady Mustangs, who finished as the Division III No. 9 ranked team in the OSSCA coaches poll, LC showed why they are more than able to reach that spot in the postseason once again.

In '14 (including their one postseason match) LC outscored their opponents, 123-16, including eight shutouts and five matches where they held their opponents to one goal.

Of the 16 goals allowed, five were in one game against Eastern Brown, a game that took parts of two days, seeing LC win by an eventual 7-5 score.

Last year in the district round, LC won against Eastern Brown by a 3-0 score in the district semifinals and 1-0 over Bishop Rosencrans to become district champions.

The winner of Tuesday's game will play in Athens on Saturday, Oct. 25 against the #2 East District champion.
