Johnny Cueto became the first Cincinnati Reds pitcher to win 20 games in a season since Danny Jackson in 1988 and the first right-hander since Jim Maloney and Sammy Ellis in 1965, as the Reds defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates, 4-1, at Great American Ball Park.

Cueto also helped his cause by singling in the go-ahead run in the bottom of the eighth inning.

Cueto pitched eight innings, allowed six hits and one run, with seven strikeouts. His seven strikeouts gave him 242 on the season, tying him with Washington Nationals starter Stephen Strasburg.

Aroldis Chapman pitched the ninth inning for his 36th save.

The Reds finish the season with a record of 76-86.
