CM defeats Lady Tigers

CLARKSVILLE — Seven points in the first half by the McClain Lady Tigers, mixed with 28 points by the Clinton-Massie Lady Falcons, were a bad combination for the visitors as the Lady Tigers lost, 58-34 Saturday afternoon at CMHS.
 
McClain (3-6, 5-11) was outscored 15-3 in the first quarter and 13-4 in the second frame, trailing at the half, 28-7.
 
In the third quarter, CM (9-0, 13-2) led 15-9, and in the fourth, the Lady Tigers won the final eight minutes at 18-15.
 
The Lady Tigers shot 30 percent from the floor at 14-of-46, while the Lady Falcons were 23-of-60 for 38 percent.
 
Leading the Lady Tigers was Tara Karnes as she scored 20 of the 34 MHS points, making eight two-point baskets and four free-throws.
 
Also scoring for MHS were Katy Unger with six points, Shania Massie and Sydney Barton with three points each and Sarah Thompson with two points.
 
MHS was 6-of-13 from the free-throw line, while totaling 18 turnovers and 12 fouls.
 
CM had two players finish in double figures with Mary Moyer scoring 13 points and Hannah Smith totaling 10 points.
 
The Lady Falcons finished 7-of-15 from the charity stripe, while totaling eight turnovers and 12 fouls.
 
MHS will play again on Wednesday as they host the Hillsboro Lady Indians who are 1-8 in the SCOL and 5-11 overall.[[In-content Ad]]
