Chillicothe ranked 2nd in Division II AP boys basketball poll

The Associated Press released the first boys high school basketball polls on Tuesday, Jan. 11, according to the Ohio High School Athletic Association's (OHSAA) website.

In Division II, which Hillsboro and McClain are a part of, Dayton Dunbar received the most first-place votes with 19. Dayton Dunbar has a 7-1 record and tallied 237 points in the vote.  

Ross County's Chillicothe Cavaliers are No. 2 in the rankings with no first-place votes. They have a 6-1 mark this season and tallied 117 points in the vote. Third in the rankings is Logan Elm (Circleville) with an 8-0 mark this season. They gained 85 points and one first-place vote. The remaining teams in the rankings include: Van Wert, Carrollton (1), Akron Buchtel (1), Youngstown Cardinal Mooney (1), Cincinnati North College Hill (1), Zanesville and Cuyahoga Falls Walsh Jesuit.

In Division III, the same division as the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs, Archbold (11-0) received 10 first-place votes to take the top spot with 195 points. Cincinnati Taft is second with 150 points tallied in the vote. CT is 8-0 overall with four first-place votes.

Akron Manchester (9-0) gained one first-place vote in the Division III rankings with 126 points tallied. Piketon (10-0) is fourth with two first-place votes and 124 points. The rest of the list includes: Oak Hill (2), Lima Central Catholic (6), Chesapeake, Casstown Miami East, Orwell Grand Valley and Ottawa-Glandorf.

Dayton Jefferson Twp. (7-1) gained 10 first-place votes for the top spot in the Division IV rankings, which is the division Fairfield and Whiteoak are members of. Dayton Jefferson Twp. received 204 points.

Zanesville Bishop Rosecrans (11-0) received five first-place votes with 140 points. Continental (4) is ranked third with 138 points received and four first-place votes. The remaining list includes: Springfield Catholic Central (1), Berlin Hiland (1), McComb (1), Fort Recovery, Columbus Grove (1), Richmond Heights and Vanlue (1). Two other teams not in the Top 10 received first-place votes, while gaining 12 or more points, were Canal Winchester Harvest Prep and Bedford St. Peter Chanel.

In the Division I rankings, Massillon Jackson is the top-ranked team with 18 first-place votes, while tallying 211 points. They are 7-0 this season.[[In-content Ad]]
