The Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs boys soccer team didn't waste a lot of time Tuesday as they powered ahead in the first half and never looked back, defeating non-conference foe Blanchester, 6-2.

LC's road win was a big day for Chaz Lanier as he netted a hat-trick with three goals against the Wildcats, followed by Noah Scott with two goals. Also scoring a goal was Alex Pinkerton.

Pinkerton's goal was the first of the match for either team, as he put the ball into the back of the net before a minute ticked off of the scoreboard, with a goal at the 39:32 mark of the first half. His goal was assisted by a Mason Jordan cross kick.

LC took a 2-0 lead from Scott's first goal of the match, with the assist off a pass from Jeremiah Hacker.

"This was a very close game," LC coach Dennis West said.

Eric Hinkle of BHS made it a one-goal lead for LC as the BHS player scored with 10:40 left in the opening half off a penalty kick.

Scott scored his second goal with 1:24 left in the opening half, with goal No. 2 coming off a penalty kick. Lanier followed as he scored his first of three goals with four seconds left in the opening half with the assist off a Josh Bauer throw-in.

Dade Coyle scored the second-half goal for the Wildcats with 22:20 on the clock off a deflection.
