The Wilmington College Athletics Department is pleased to announce the hiring of Cadence Pierce as the new Assistant Director of Athletic Communications.
Pierce brings a wealth of experience to Wilmington, having spent two years as an undergraduate worker at Kent State University and nine years as an athletics intern at Ravenna School District.
"I am thrilled to have Cadence to join our Athletic Communications staff,” said Quakers Director of Athletic Communications Michael Pagano. "The wealth of knowledge, experience and energy she brings is amazing, and I can't wait to see the contributions she makes to the office."
During her time at Ravenna, Pierce was a versatile team member, serving as the "Voice of the Ravens" for many years, scorekeeper, statistician, social media manager, website content creator, graphic designer, photographer, site manager and tournament director for many sports and events.
Other tasks at Ravenna included the creation and development of the Ravenna ESPYs, among other athletic communications roles.
Matthew Wunderle, former Ravenna soccer coach and the original ideator of the Ravenna ESPYs, said the "big kudos go to Pierce because [they're] the media magic guru."
"[They're] making it look professional with his videographics. The lights are out, and there's spotlights," Wunderle said in a 2019 feature for the Kent-Ravenna Record-Courier.
In her two years at Kent State University, Pierce worked with the Golden Flashes' Athletic Communications office. Pierce also worked with the Kent State Teleproductions crew, which handled in-house video board and ESPN+ productions of Kent State and Mid-American Conference sporting events and The Kent Stater, Kent State's award-winning student newspaper. Through her work with The Kent Stater, Pierce had opportunities to freelance for the USA Today Network and has had photos from the April 2024 Eclipse featured in multiple news outlets.
Pierce graduated with a Bachelor of Integrative Studies and Associate of Arts degree from Kent State in 2024.
