Braves send Indians to 0-2 season start

CHILLICOTHE — One day after losing their season and home opener by 10 points, the Hillsboro Indians lost their second game of the season by 10 points, falling to the Logan Elm Braves 59-49 Saturday at the Zane Trace Tip-Off Classic.
Hillsboro (0-2) came out strong leading by two points after the first quarter at 16-14, but was held to single digits in the second frame, being outscored 11-9.
The score was tied at 25 at the half.
HHS led after three quarters at 38-37 with a 13-point third frame (Logan Elm scored 12). In the fourth, the Indians' defense was unable to keep up with the Braves, being outscored 22-11 for the 10-point loss.
Táron Captain led the Indians in scoring with 22 points, including two 3-pointers, seven two-point field goals and two free-throw conversions.
Christian Cundiff followed with nine points, and Tyrand Cumberland scored seven points, including one 3-pointer.
Chase Gilliland finished with five points (one 3-pointer), and Jarrod Hart ended the contest with four points. Tyia Cumberland scored two points.
For the Braves, Dillon Young finished with a game-high 23 points, followed by Anthony Vasiner with 10.
The Indians totaled 16 field goals, three 3-pointers and five free throws. Logan Elm had 17 field goals, five 3-pointers and 10 free throws.
HHS will be back at their home court on Tuesday when they host Highland County counterpart Fairfield (1-1) with the freshman game starting at 4:45 p.m.
