Boone makes Team USA roster for 2015 Triathlon World Championships

A Hillsboro man has earned a spot in the 2015 USA Triathlon World Championships.

On Sunday, Aug. 10, Michael Boone of Hillsboro competed in USA Triathlon 2014 Age Group National Championships in Milwaukee, Wisc. in the sprint race.

The sprint triathlon consists of a half-mile swim, 12.4-mile bike ride and a 3.1 mile run.

Boone, 46, finished 23rd in the male 45-49 division, 213rd in the men's division (1,011 racers) and 221st overall (1,734 racers) with a time of 01:07:40.59.

Boone's individual times for each event were a 12:55 swim, 31:44 bike ride and 19:51 run.

As one of the top 25 athletes in his age group, Boone's time in the sprint triathlon race has qualified him to compete in USA Triathlon's World Championships and earned him a spot on Team USA. The 2015 World Championships are set to take place in late September 2015 in Chicago, Ill.
