Blocker named Special Teams Coordinator at Miami
Miami University head football coach Chuck Martin has announced the addition of Kyle Blocker to his staff. Blocker will serve as Special Teams Coordinator.
"I'm grateful for the opportunity to work with Coach Martin and his staff," said Blocker. "Miami football has great tradition and has had unbelievable success. I'm excited to work with these players and build lifelong relationships. Go RedHawks!"
Blocker has spent the past three seasons at the University of Tennessee, most recently as a Special Teams Analyst from 2022-23. This past season the Volunteers finished third in the country with four blocked kicks and were fourth nationally with two blocked punts. Tennessee was 23rd in net punting, allowing just four return yards all season long and finished 15th in punt return average.
Prior to joining the Volunteers, Blocker was a Defensive Backs Graduate Assistant at North Texas from 2020-21. He also spent time at Kansas (2018-20), Missouri State (2015-18) and Missouri (2013-15). He worked directly with the Jayhawks' Special Teams in 2020 and was part of the Bears' Special Teams coaching staff from 2015-16.
Blocker graduated from the University of Missouri in 2015 with a degree in sports management and added his master's degree in administrative studies from Missouri State in 2017. Blocker began his football career as a free safety for the football team at Southeast Missouri State from 2010-11.
