10 Tigers place at Xenia

XENIA — The McClain Tigers varsity wrestling team competed in a 10-team Xenia Invitational Tournament on Saturday, Dec. 10, with 10 wrestlers placing at the event.

Cincinnati Turpin won the tournament, and Dayton Chaminade-Julienne finished as runner-up. Xenia finished in third place, and Cincinnati Western Hills finished in fourth.

McClain took 10 wrestlers to the tournament, and all ten placed.  

Leading the way for the Tigers was senior Lonnie Adkins, winning his first high school tournament by pinning all four of his opponents in the 220-pound division.   

McClain also had three other finalists who finished as runners-up, including Isaac Savage (145), Brendon Goble (182) and Gary Ryan (195).

Brandon Davis finished fifth (285).   

Finishing sixth was Richie Rayburn, 160 pounds, and Caleb Savage, 170 pounds. Kylee Stroud (106) and Coty Barnhart (132) finished in seventh place. Cody Black (152) finished in eighth place.

Up next for the McClain Tigers is the two-day Blanchester Duals on Dec. 16 and 17.

CIRCLEVILLE — The McClain JV wrestling team was at the Circleville Kiwanis Key Club Tournament on Saturday, Dec. 10.

Pacing the way for the Tigers was senior Jake Branham, who won his first tournament championship, winning the 220-pound division with five wins and no losses.

Other results included: Dylan Trefz, second place (285); Roscoe East, second place (182); Kaleb Osceola, third (182); Bobby Coil, fifth (220); Ethan Paul, sixth (138); and Eric Rowe, 7th (160). James Lain fought three tough battles.[[In-content Ad]]
