A 10-run second inning by the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs was all they needed to gain their third win of the season, defeating the West Union Dragons, 14-3 Tuesday at LCHS.

The Southern Hills Athletic Conference win by the host Mustangs saw them trail 2-1 after the first inning, but they came alive in the second as they tallied 10 runs in the bottom half of the inning, for a lead of 11-1 after two complete.

For good measure the Mustangs secured the run-rule lead, as they added three runs in the third inning, while the Dragons added one run in the top of the third.

[[In-content Ad]]Cory Snider led LC, going 3-for-4 at the plate with two runs and one RBI.

Gage Waits was 2-for-2 with two runs, two walks and one RBI.

The Mustangs totaled 11 hits with Ryan Inman, Chaz Lanier, Morgan Ryan, Wesley Smith, Kendall Vilvens and Josh Bauer each tallying one hit.

Lanier led LC with two RBIs as they totaled eight for the game. Also with an RBI were Inman, Ryan, Smith and Bauer. Lanier and Waits each had a double.

Cawood drew two walks, while Vilvens had one walk.

LC also had four steals with Snider leading with two, and with one each were Vilvens and Waits.

Inman was the winning pitcher. Inman, a junior, allowed three earned runs on three hits and five walks in three innings, as he collected five strikeouts. Smith pitched two innings of relief as he allowed no runs on zero hits and two walks in two innings, striking out two.

The win moves LC to 3-4 in the SHAC and 3-8 overall.

LC will host the Eastern Brown Warriors on Thursday at 5 p.m. in SHAC play.
