Wildcats win two in doubleheader against Nelsonville-York 

Two non-conference games on Saturday at Whiteoak High School saw the host Wildcats gain two victories over Nelsonville-York, adding to their overall total on the team and winning by scores of 6-2 and 12-2.

Game one for the Wildcats saw them win by four runs, but it was Nelsonville-York scoring first with two runs in the top of the first, followed by Whiteoak taking the lead in the bottom of the second with three runs crossing the plate.

Neither team scored runs in the third or the fourth innings, and WHS added one run in the fifth and two more runs scored in the bottom of the sixth for the four-run win.

WHS finished with eight hits and two errors, and NYHS had six hits and one error.

Eli Roberts was 3-for-3 with two runs and four steals.

Landon Barnett went 1-for-4 with an RBI and a steal. David Donohoo was 1-for-2 with a run and a HBP. Ian Griffith also had a hit at 1-for-3 with a triple and one run. Kaden Moon-Stone ended the first game at 1-for-3 with a steal. Luken Roades was 1-for-3 with one run, a walk and three steals.

Carson Emery finished with an RBI and an HBP, and Nate Price had a steal and was HBP. Zander Roades totaled a run, one RBI and a steal.

Emery was the winning pitcher, going six innings, allowing two earned runs on four hits and one walk, while also collecting nine strikeouts.

Moon-Stone pitched one inning, where he allowed no runs with two hits and no walks. He had one strikeout.

In the second game of the twin bill, the Wildcats dominated with a 12-2 win. WHS led 2-0 after the first inning, then after NY scored two runs in the top of the second, the Wildcats responded with a three-run second for a 5-2 lead.

WHS went on to score two runs in the bottom of the third, one run in the fourth and two runs in the sixth for the 12-2 run-rule win.

The Wildcats collected nine hits and had one error. NY finished with five hits and two errors.

Carson Emery led WHS at 2-for-4 with one run, three RBI, one walk and three steals. Zander Roades ended game at 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, one walk and two steals.

David Donohoo was 1-for-2 with two runs, a walk and a steal. Ian Griffith finished 1-for-3 with two RBI and a walk. Nate Price had one hit at 1-for-3 with an RBI, a walk and a steal.

Luken Roades finished at 1-for-3 with a run, two RBI, a SAC and a steal. Eli Roberts finished 1-for-4 with an RBI and a steal.

Jacen Applegate totaled two runs, one walk and a steal. Landon Barnett collected three runs, two walks, two steals and hit a SAC.

Solomon Combs walked once and scored a run, while Wyatt Ruark had a HBP.

Applegate was the winning pitcher, pitching six innings, allowing two earned runs off five hits and three walks. He totaled seven strikeouts.

WHS stands at 15-1 overall.
