Wildcats rally with 5 second-half goals in win over Felicity-Franklin

MOWRYSTOWN — Returning to their home field following game cancellations due to extreme heat, along with the break in action for the Highland County Fair last week, the Whiteoak Wildcats boys soccer team gained a 5-0 win over the visiting Felicity-Franklin Cardinals Monday evening at WHS.
All five of Whiteoak’s goals were scored in the second half, as the score was tied at 0-0 following the first 40 minutes of play.
After regaining their composure at halftime, the Wildcats got back to business where they had a hat trick from junior Christopher Wessner, who scored three of the five Wildcat goals in the non-conference game.
Also scoring one goal each in the second half were senior Abe Flader and sophomore Lucas Pollard.
The Wildcats had a total of three assists credited to senior Tre Lamb, junior Rowan Roades and senior Joao Portilho.
At goal for the shutout was freshman keeper Koltyn Spitznagel, who finished with four saves, along with many contributions from the Wildcat defense in the match.
Whiteoak is now 2-3-0 overall, and they also have a Southern Hills Athletic Conference record of 0-2-0.
Next on the schedule for Whiteoak is a SHAC match on Wednesday, Sept. 16 at home against Highland County rival, the Fairfield Lions (5-2-1) with a new scheduled start time of 5:45 p.m.
