Whiteoak softball eliminated with district semifinal loss
The Whiteoak Lady Wildcats lost their 2024 Division IV SE District Semifinal game on Tuesday, seeing the end of their softball season occur while falling to the Valley Lady Indians 10-0 in five innings in a game played at Rio Grande.
WHS was also no-hit and committed two errors in the loss. Valley totaled 11 hits and had no errors.
VHS (16-8) scored four runs in the bottom of the first, followed by scoring innings of two runs, one run, one run and two runs for the 10-run total.
Whiteoak avoided the perfect game as Jaylie Parr was hit by a pitch, and she followed that with a steal. The Lady ’Cats also didn’t have a walk.
Emilie Johnson of Valley pitched all five innings, allowing no runs, no walks or hits, and she had nine strikeouts.
Pitching for Whiteoak in the loss were Lilly Leston and Bri Hill. Eight of the 10 Valley runs were earned runs, and Hill had the only strikeout for WHS.
The loss ends the Whiteoak season at 7-13 overall, as they won a sectional championship for the first time since the 2015 season.
