Whiteoak Lady ’Cats defeat Manchester, fall to Eastern to start season

The 2024-25 Whiteoak girls basketball season has seen them start the year with a win vs. Manchester, followed by an overtime loss at Eastern, with both games being Southern Hills Athletic Conference contests.

On Monday, Nov. 25 the Lady ’Cats defeated Manchester 72-16 in SHAC action, with WHS starting the game with a 26-9 lead at the end of the first quarter.

From there, Whiteoak outscored the Lady Greyhounds 16-3 in the second for a halftime lead of 42-12. In the third, WHS added nine points, while Manchester scored four points for a 51-16 score.  

In the fourth quarter, the Lady Wildcats scored 21 points and held Manchester to zero points for the 55-point win.

In the scoring column, Whiteoak was led by Addy Hauke with 18 points, as she made six 3-pointers in the win.

Jillian Lucas totaled 17 points for WHS, making five 3-pointers and one two-point basket.

Addison Roberts totaled 15 points with five two-point baskets, one 3-pointer and she was 2-of-2 from the free-throw line.

Kylee Hamm totaled 10 points in the win, making one 3-pointer, three two-point baskets and she was 1-of-2 from the free-throw line.

WHS also had six points (two 3-pointers) scored by Charli Hauke, four points from Torie Potts and two points from Jada Combs.

As a team, WHS totaled 15 3-pointers and they finished 3-of-4 from the free-throw line, along with 12 two-point baskets.

On Monday, Dec. 2 at Eastern, the Lady ’Cats were defeated by the Lady Warriors 55-53 in SHAC action.

EHS led 11-6 at the end of the first quarter, followed by each team scoring 15 points in the second for a halftime lead for Eastern at 26-21.

WHS scored 14 points in the third, with Eastern scoring 12, as Eastern led 38-35 after three quarters. WHS forced OT with a 10-7 fourth frame, for a 45-45 score when regulation ended. In overtime, WHS scored eight points, and Eastern scored 10 points to seal the win for the Lady Warriors.

Whiteoak was led in scoring by Addison Roberts and Addy Hauke with 13 points each. Roberts totaled four two-point baskets, one 3-pointer, and she was 2-for-4 from the free-throw line. Hauke finished with four 3-pointers and was 1-of-2 from the free-throw line.

Kylee Hamm finished with 10 points, as she collected three two-point baskets and was 4-of-4 from the free-throw line.

Also for WHS, Torie Potts added nine points, Charli Hauke totaled four points and Jillian Lucas scored four points.

WHS finished 9-of-12 from the free-throw line. Eastern was 12-of-23 in their free-throw attempts.

Eastern was led in scoring by Sophia Uhl with 18 points and Olivia Uhl with 12 points.

The two games leave Whiteoak at 1-1 overall.
