Whiteoak defeats North Adams for SHAC victory
For the second straight game to start the ’23 season, the Whiteoak Wildcats were the winning team when the game came to a close, this time winning in Southern Hills Athletic Conference action and defeating the North Adams Green Devils, 8-4, Tuesday at WHS.
WHS led 4-0 after the first inning, and after both teams scored one run in the second inning, the Wildcats held a 5-1 lead. WHS added a run in the bottom of the fourth and two more runs in the bottom of the sixth for a lead of 8-1. North Adams scored three runs in the top of the seventh for the final score of 8-4.
The Wildcats were led at the plate by Landon Barnett at 3-for-4 with three runs and one RBI. Nate Price was 2-for-3 with a run, and Ian Griffith went 2-for-3 with two runs.
Luken Roades finished 1-for-4 with one run, and Eli Roberts was 1-for-2 with two RBI.
On the mound, Kaden Moon-Stone was the winning pitcher as he pitched four innings, allowing three runs (none earned) with two hits and three walks. He faced 18 batters and struck out four batters.
Roades pitched three innings for WHS where he faced 16 batters, allowing one unearned run on three hits and three walks, while finishing with six strikeouts.
The win improves WHS to 1-0 in the SHAC Division II standings and 2-0 overall.
