Wessner earns hat trick in Whiteoak season-opening loss

The Whiteoak Wildcats made their 2026 debut on their new turf field at Whiteoak High School on Monday evening (Aug. 17), falling to non-conference foe Portsmouth-Clay by a 6-4 score. 

Whiteoak had a hat trick from junior Christopher Wessner who scored three goals in the home match. Also scoring a goal for Whiteoak was senior Tre Lamb, as he also had an assist in the match. 

Others credited with an assist for WHS were freshman Logan Barnett and senior Abe Flader. 

At goal for the Wildcats was freshman keeper Koltyn Spoitznagel who had eight saves in his varsity debut. 

Whiteoak (0-1) will play next on Thursday, Aug. 20 at home against Wellston in a non-conference match at 5:30 p.m.
